Ok, I'm a little slow on the uptake on this one, the new Spike logo by Bluemarlin has been out since late 2015, but I had never watched Spike (TV channel) until visiting Scotland last week.
The point is it caught my eye (thankfully not literally!).
Here it is on the right, sitting next to its father:
Sometimes a design makes you wish you'd thought of it, for me this is a stunningly pure example of when typography and concepts collide. The old version was ok, but looking a little dated. Then pops up this eye-catching sharp split within the curvy typeface. It looks stunning and delivers the brand's message - bullseye!
